Dive into the world of coil pots! We will focus on the art of shaping pots, looking closely at how to start and finish each piece and the visual flow that connects those choices. Our discussions will touch on practical techniques for building larger pieces. Students will leave with an understanding of as clay body considerations and commercially available amendments, glazing methods such as pouring and spraying, and creating balanced, eye-catching compositions!
Kayla will lead a gesture drawing session, using charcoal and graphite to explore how movement and mark-making can influence clay work. You'll get a feel for how these drawings capture structure and flow, which can help guide your clay forms or act as a rough draft. Then, you'll get hands-on practice with the clay techniques we cover.
This process-focused workshop is perfect for both casual makers and those seeking in-depth feedback on form and concept. Prior clay experience required.
